How We Review
Scoring
Games will be given one of three possible outcomes on our stoplight score system:
BUY
A green buy score means that the game has worthwhile content, mechanics, and overall gameplay worthy of a day one purchase.
CAUTION
A yellow caution score means that we consider the game to be lacking in one or more core areas, it may have some entertainment value but doesn't resonate strongly enough for us to recommend purchasing the game immediately at launch. Waiting for patches and price drops may be recommended in this category.
AVOID
A red avoid score means that the overall release quality is incredibly lacking, whether in content, mechanics, or performance. The game might have a business model that detracts from fair/competitive gameplay or a number of other factors that ultimately have us recommending you that your time and money is better spent elsewhere.
Core Areas
The most important categories of a game that influence our reviews:
Content
Was the story content worth a playthrough? Were the combat encounters engaging? What does the endgame look like?
Mechanics
Does the movement/combat/gunplay feel fluid and skillful? Do the RPG mechanics/itemization feel influential and substantial?
Performance
Does the game consistently run at 60+ FPS? Does the multiplayer netcode feel fair or is desync noticeable?
Difficulty
Games will be reviewed on the highest available difficulty to produce the deepest understanding possible of available in-game mechanics.
